Merry Christmas Allie!
Hey Allie! This is your Christmas present (well, one of many) for 2014!
So here’s the deal…
I bought allietowell.com. For now I’m technically “the owner”, but I can change that at any time (I think) if you’d like to be the “owner” proper. It’s being hosted (like, that’s where it physically “lives”) on some hosting space I use from a company called BlueHost (they’re pretty good).
What’s installed here is WordPress 4.1. Although it’s technically no different than if you registered an account on WordPress.com, because I can control every last drop of code we get a lot more freedom. Plus we don’t get a stupid xxx_yyy.wordpress.com address. The template I’m using is called Phogra (version 1.9). Wordpress is generally pretty awesome about swapping templates out, so if you happen upon something you think might look good we can try it out and swap back and forth as we please.
To go along with that, since we (I) control the domain allietowell.com, we can make things like allie@allietowell.com, and people can e-mail you there (I’ll send you log-in credentials and a how-to later so you can start using it).
Let me know if you’d like any changes. At the moment what I’ve done is grabbed a bunch of photos from your Facebook account. The problem with that is that they’re compressed to begin with, then Facebook compresses them some more, and then they get a little bit more compressed when I download them and re-upload them into the WordPress blog. So the result is they look fine on a phone, OK on a tablet, and pretty awful on a desktop/laptop computer. If you’ve got some high quality pictures you’d like to slap up on here (in the Album page or anywhere else), let me know and I’ll do it. Honestly WordPress is pretty easy to use so I can probably just give you a primer on how things in the back-end work and let you do your thing.
And once again, Merry Christmas!
